China Vies With US For Most Restrictive Toward Online Casinos

Monitors watching for the accessing of gambling, pornography, or politically incorrect sites have been responsible for the imprisonment of many citizens.

China online casinos has long employed an army of technicians to spy on the Internet conduct of its citizens. The country not only has passed laws censoring online content, but also actively examines Internet usage to determine if "inappropriate"sites, such as those preaching political dissent, promoting free thought, or offering an online casino asia experience, are being viewed.

Now, under the guise of protecting copyrights, China is forcing Internet cafes to install systems which make spying easier for the government. The businesses are being asked to use either licensed copies of Microsoft Windows or China's homegrown software, Red Flag Linux. But reports have surfaced that, even if Windows is the operating system of choice, cafes are being forced to still install Red Flag.

Government officials deny a problem exists, saying that cafes not breaking any laws should not worry about surveillance. Besides, said a government spokesman, Red Flag is an excellent deterrent to viruses.Web sites are frequently blocked to the best of the government's ability. Monitors watching for the accessing of gambling, pornography, or politically incorrect sites have been responsible for the imprisonment of many citizens. Despite a reputation for representing freedom of thought and expression and a refusal to abide censorship, US law enforcement has stretched existing laws far beyond their expressed intent as means to prosecute and block online casinos, as well as crafting new unworkable, confusing, and ambiguous law such as the UIGEA.

If US citizens are willing to permit their rights to be trampled in an unsuccessful and misguided attempt to ban online gambling, how soon will it be before pornography follows? And then comes political opinions that are unsavory, followed by any disagreement with the government...
